Disabled SBC Programs (msconfig view; the UNCHECKED items are disabled SBC stuff)
SpeedStream 5100 Modem Settings (to allow the use of Internet Connection Sharing (ICS)) Note: This shows the modem reconfigured from bridge mode to router mode. If you want to run your own FTP server, do NOT make that particular change; instead, see the Registry Fix below.
Registry Settings for Windows 98 (Right-click here and select "Save Target As...") to disable IP Autoconfiguration when no DHCP server responds -- this allows ICS to work while letting your ICS computer have a real-world IP address. Once the computer goes into autoconfiguration mode, it is incapable of communicating with the modem; this setting prevents that lock-out from happening. The corresponding setting for Windows XP is more complicated to find; see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article Q220874 for details.
